Installed the K&N Today

I installed the K&N intake today. Looks and sounds great. The very first time out I could tell the difference.

Looks good! My JG Monte has the same one! Love the way it sounds especially on a cold start ;)

Is it normal to get a kind of high pitched air sound from the intake. When I first start the car it is loud and then goes down after a minute or so. Kind of sounds like a vacume leak, but seems to be the intake. I am thinking just the sound of all that free air, but thought I would ask others with the same intake.

Yep mine does the exact same thing ! Sounds like a loud vacuum cleaner haha . Sounds cool though :) plus even when I'm driving k hear a whistle sound on acceleration almost sounds like a turbo spool

Good job, it was worth your effort it would seem, your Monte's engine has to love it too!

They are very loud on first start-up, it's normal.

Be easy on the car when it's summer-time. I see you are down-south and that intake doesn't have any heat insulation, so it will bring your intake temps up really high

wkimes 05-18-2015 09:00 AM

Yeah I know the K&N does not keep out as much heat as the COI. I was going to get the COI, but my father works at Oreileys, and I was able to get 40% there on the K&N. Can not beat the price at only $180

I understand about value and such, but the way the cars computer works, is that it pulls timing based on intake air temperatures.

The hotter the air gets, the thinner and less volume it has, this forces the car to lean out, and then the engine pulls timing as well. Can get dangerous if it pulls too much timing and you lean out too much and the car knocks.

If u can get the filter more in the fenderwell you will be good I know right now I'm searching for a filter that fits all the way in so I can seal it in there
