How to customize my exhaust...

All comments and suggestions are welcome.

I have a 2003 monte ss and would like to customize the exhaust system. I want to achieve a nice powerful tone (stock v8 sound) and possibly a performance increase. I dont want to spend an arm and leg on an entire new cat back set, so I have a few of my own ideas...

- take out u-bend

- replace resonator with straight pipe

- replace mufflers with flowmaster 40's

- possibly get resonator tips

Do you think this is a good combination?
and
How much do you think this will cost at a muffler shop?

well the bad part is you will never really achive the V-8 sound . it is a V-6!

and besides nobody likes the sound of a stock V-8. they are to queit.

But you can fesabely make yours sound nice with what you have above and also changing your pipe from teh stock 2.1/4 to a 2.50 it will make it louder, give you more preformance and also will sound nice not liek a built V-8 but hey it is about as close as your going to get unless you want to add a set of 800.00 headders to it also.

Honestly your going to have to chang ethe cat back system to a bigger one anyway but you dont have to buy thier kits sometimes you can get them done at a local shop cheaper then you can buy the bolt on kits. Take it in for a estamate and find out. wont hurt to ask!!

Everything looks good except the resonator delete w/straight pipe.

Replace it with a glass pack or high flow race muffler. Some here noted that it will sound ricery otherwize.

Also, I would get the DP I posted about last week and replace all of the tube from the DP to the Y with 2.5" to match the DP. Don't change the size after the Y which I believe is 2".
