Homemade FWI on '04 SC 3.8 engine.. what is that noise?

Hi.
I recently made up my own FWI intake (using PVC pipe through to the fender with a washable filter at the end sitting just behind the headlight) and installed it on my '04 intimidator edition MC. I installed the same setup on my other '04 LS (with the 3.4 engine) without any issues.
However, with the SC engine, at startup, thesounds coming through the air filter is so noisy, you would think that something is really going wrong with the engine... it's like metal on metal coming through. After a few minutes of running, the noise goes away.
I'm guessing it's the SC that is making the noise and it's coming out of the air filter but... wow... it's like the engine is really sick (and not in a good way) but when it's warmed up, it goes away.
Anyone else have that issue?

when i made mine and put it on the car the first time it sounded like a vacume cleaner.
could have ran a shop vac and made less noise.

AS for metal on meatal i havent heard of the one at all on any of them. I would see if i could find the source on it just to make sure that it is not anythign importaint.

Well, comparing it to a vacuum cleaner is close to it. More like a slow running shop-vac or something. Is that normal? Anyway to minimize the noise? It just makes the car sound sick at start up... however, I did manage to hear the whine of the SC... and... well,... wow :-)

My gtp did the same thing. When I took the TB off for porting, I noticed the IAC valve was kinda gunky, and the passage for it had some crap in it (so the ID of the hole was maybe1/2 of what it should've been). I cleaned it all out back to how stock is, and a good bit of that noise went away.

But mine at cold idle was louder than the exhaust- I'm guessing it was just the air whistling through such a small passage. Worth a shot- just pull the IAC and use a bristle brush and some carb cleaner to try and clean out the passages (not sure how much you can get to w/o pulling the TB).

i like the noise its just that the air is very cold and car is able to suck more of it in because its so much colder i cut out my finder so that colder air can be pulled from outside on my k&n
