Fitting a 3" Exhaust System
Hey everyone! Soo, as most of you know, I recently bought a parts car for my '02 Monte. The parts car was equipped with a Corsa Catback exhaust system. My question is, how would I be able to hook mine up?? I know how to mount it, but as far as it being 3" and my stock being....2.25. It also came with some SLP headers but I'm afraid to put those on since I'm N/A.

Yet the 3" CAT back will be to much exhaust, I would go with a 2.5" down pipe and then go with a whole new 2.5" system the rest of the way. A local shop can do that for a surprisingly low cost using standard piping, not Stainless. Just keep it painted and it will not rust through for quite some time. Mine is almost 7 years old and in very good condition. |
ive also heard that 3" is too much

3" is too much, but the headers will be fine. You'll lose some low end torque, but you'll gain power up high. I would do what ZIPPY02 said.

Thanks for the advice, everyone! I guess I'll just sell the system or keep it for when i take on an L67 build. If i were to run the headers, how could i do it with the stock system since the headers are 3" inch at the back

Any exhaust shop can make a coupler for different size pipe to make it fit. If I were you I would install the headers and exhaust you have and enjoy it. The little low end power you will lose will be to minimal you won't even notice
