Exhaust, is it stock?
 

Just bought a 03 Monte Carlo SS and I was wondering if the stock exhaust is what I have because it is pretty loud. I had a 2000 MC LS before and it was quiet until you got on it, but this SS rumbles when in the 1500-2000RPM range, pretty noisy on the inside? Could this be the stock exhaust or is the stock SS exhaust pretty quiet?

umm did you look under the car yet? if something looks diff then there is your answer. does the car have a cold air intake? or any other apparent mods? it should have a very similar exhaust to your 2000 but it would have the duals so two of the mufflers you had before. just work your way over the system and see if any of the welds look new or out of place with the others.

but off the top of my head, it shouldnt be loud in the car. prob louder then your old ls but not disturbingly louder

I never looked at the exhaust on the ls, but I would say this SS does not have the stock exhaust as I don't think it would be this loud.

Listen for leaks. The stock exhaust looks like 2 big round cans on the SS model... That would be the easiest way of looking. After markets usually look like squished cans or tubes.
