edelbrock intake and carb installed!

hey i thought id let u guys know i got my intake and carb on the 85 ss, and seriously i need to get it dyno'd because i think it may have gotten over 50hp boost from it, it went from stock intake and quadrajunk carb to edelbrock torker 2 intake and 750 performer carb, i know 750 is a bit much but when i get done itll be good to go, next plans are extreme energy cam and roller rockers (its a 355), it straight up hauls some ace now, low 9's to mid 8's in the 8th i would think, it gets to 100 in probly 8 to 10 seconds

Sounds awesome, do you have any pics of the car and engine?

Great! the 750 will be fine either way. just tune and jet to what you have now and make changes whenthe cam comes.easiest way is to do a plug reading. install a fresh set of plugs.start the car with the fresh plugs and immediately do a 1/8th or 1/4 mile pass and turn the key off when you let out of it on the big end. pull over and pull a plug or 2 and identify if it's rich or lean. a country road near you or a friends place is what i look for so you can mechanic on the side of the road...lol. you're looking for a light brown color down in the electrode body of the plug and on the electrode. it should turn back towards white as it reaches the metal part of the center electrode. the ground should have no build up just a light, dry, light brown coating at the most. another way of identifying lean or rich at that time is to look at the ground part of the electrode(the part you adjust for gap). somewhere along it as it turns down toward the body of the plug there will be an area where it changes color.a burn line if you will... you want that color change to occur in the middle of the ground electrode. about 45 degrees offcenter of the plug. near the body of the plug is too lean. nitrous engines that burn the electrodes off the plugs typically have this problem. if it's straight up from the center electrode near the tip of the ground electrode, it's too rich. also,.. check to see if any of the plugschecked have lil peppered looking speckson them. if so,identify the color of them and holla back.
