does 2.5 pipes make a differnce from 2.25

thinking about getting some. i could'nt imagine any hp gains, i want it for sound. is it worth the money?

Well, it kind of depends on what you drive. What year and model Monte do you have?

its a 2006 monte SS

Throw in a set of headers or at least the Hogan downpipe and you'll have some nice gains. Swap the mufflers and it will sound great too.

^Agreed.

noted. And for my Bday gift i decided to get Headers from DT. and a metal hood scoop. So headers with 2.5 pipes?

Hope i dont need a tune right off.

zipper Apr 20, 2010 06:35 PM

The headers and the downpipe will help out quite a bit. You won't "need" a tune either, but the tune can only help ;)

lol, those headers are $1000- thats crazy. Hopefully somebody does a knock-off set, or their own set to get some competition in the market to get the price down.

If you really want a change in sound- just replace the mufflers back with aftermarket. Headers will give you more power, but will be way more expensive and won't really change the sound much (at least not going through stock mufflers still).

id be surprised if he couldnt get in on the group buy price. i backed out on my set times are a little tough and im sure that they have a few still laying around. the car is def going to need a tune after though. the one guy on the forums numbers went down after the header swap but jumped pretty good after the tune. the car really didnt sound different with the headers though but i would think youd want them more for the gain in hp over the gain in sound.

yeah i talked to nick, that some referd me to on ls1tech.com, and he's letting me buy them at the group buy price, plus military discount. so im happy about that. my mods are cai from cai, FMs 44s, 4inch tips from slp, 22 inch rims. the 44s sound pretty damn good now coupled with those wide tips.

soon: DT LT headers, aftermarket metal scoop, 2.5 pipes, mass air flow sensor
