custom built exaust?

i got a buddy that has an exaust shop. i was thinkin about havin him do some work for a used zex kit. I was wondering if i could just have him bend a Downpipe instead of ordering on off the net. that way i could delete the u bend, and maybe buy a hi flow cat or just run no cat? could i run just the pipe to the resonator to maybe some aftermarket mufflers? or buy an aftermarket cat too? im not up on my exaust game guys and i cant afford am exaust kit right now. i lost my job at GM. they cut 2nd shift! boooo:eek:

yes, you can do that.
usually it's cheaper to buy a bolt in downpipe than it is to buy the materials and have one fabbed up and welded in, but if that's not the case for you then go for it.

Changing the catback isn't really worth anything performance wise. The only reason to change anything in the catback is if you want a different sound.

Does your buddy have a mandrel bender? Not all exhaust shops do, and you don't really want a crush bent one.

I imagine the exhaust sound is his main goal anyways, the 20"s and big sound system make it slower than stock as it is.

If you just wanna make it louder, then screw changine the downpipe or cat, and just cut the mufflers off and swap them out for either straight pipe or some aftermarket mufflers.

Or just do a custom downpipe into a cat and dump.

i dont want it too loud. just a step up from stock to let people know and get me a lil rumble for myself. and im for sure building it for speed too, but im not just looking to be the fastest (hence the 20s and gigantic sub and amp) lol. i like to look good first, have a lil thump in the trunk (or alot), and still be able to beat up on rice burners (as we all love to do) should i run the 3in down pipe to a high flow cat?

3" if you're supercharged yes.
