Default cold air intake ecm placement?

hey guys i just bought a Wapon dragon R intake kit for my 03 monte carlo SS 3.8L engine and when i removed the old intake box the ecm was in there and on the paper it says to let it hang around the engine but i dont know where to put it now that the box is removed. should i leave it hanging like it is on the bottom of where the box used to be or is there another solution?

FYI - Unless you have a shielded box around that Weapon-R intake, it's known as a HAI (Hot Air Intake) as it will suck in the air around the engine that has been warmed up.

As for your question about the PCM, I would recommend securing it. Many intake kits, like a Wizaird, come with a method to "strap" the PCM down. Chibiblacksheep is in the middle of some mods with his Monte, as a result he actually mounted the PCM tray from I believe a Blazer (or another GM truck) in the location that the PCM sits in.

Allowing the PCM long term to "flop around", you run the risk of damaging the wiring and/or the PCM.

I want to say the tray came from a Blazer, too. But in the mean time OP, get some zip ties and just anchor it to something solid. That'll be safe enough until you get a tray or other better means of securing it.

Yep, I used a tray from a blazer.

Also, it doesn't just fit in... I had to drill 2 holes and tap the screws as well.

what we actually anded up doing is we cut the factory airbox around the rim of it and drilled 2 holes im the middle and put 3 long zip ties to anchor the PCM to the tray.
