I know of all the good things a CAI can do, but is there any downs to a CAI i should know about before installing one?

The only thing I can think of is not to over oil your filter or else the oil wil go up in you intake and mess up some sensors. But thats all I can think of.

also make sure that it is mounted high enough to not suck water in heavy down poors . BUT THIS IS NOT THE CASE FOR MOST NORMAL SET UPS.

Mine is behind the drivers headlight and actually in the front bumper closer to the fog light

It will allow a greater chance of imputities come into the engine. I happend to get lucky when my cone started to fall off and left a 1/2" gap for something to go into the engine like gravel or bird feathers.

I just happen to be lucky enough to be checking it the next day and secured it properly.

With the stock air box and drop in filter the design is so that it is much less problem prone.
