Anybody have the ZZP/Magnaflow Exhaust?
I was wondering if anyone has bought or used the ZZP 2.5" Aluminized Catback Exhaust?
ZZPerformance - 2.5" Aluminized Catback Exhaust # How does it sound? With/without res? I'm between this and the SLP Powerflo exhaust, which I've seen alot of people seem to have as well. Thanks. |
i don't think anyone here has it because it's made for the grand prix.
It would still work on your car with a little modification. you should check on clubgp.com to see if anyone has it, it will sound the same on their cars as it will yours Here's one example that I was able to find: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYXmczIcDuM |
I don't touch stuff that isn't made of stainless.
|
Hm, okay so aluminized is a no-no. I guess that's for the best, living here in Philly with the snow/salt in the wintertime.
|
exactly. I have a full stainless magnaflow system, stainless zzp downpipe too.
However my cat-back is discontinued. |
there's always the SLP route, ZZP does have a stainless kit also.
I think your best and cheapest bet may be to just do a full custom exhaust from the cat back and then look into ZZP's 2.5" catted downpipe. |
What do you mean full custom?

Just make sure they can do a mandrel bend.
|
i got that slp exhaust, its not loud and no rumble AT all.. just a low drone noise, it reminds me of the early 90's chevy cars the exhaust note back then were the same throughout the brand and it sounds like these mufflers too

go to an exhaust shop and have them bend and weld everything up for you

I did the custom route, too (resonator back). I have dual Magnaflow mufflers (model #11224). All my piping from my resonator back is stainless. I still have a stock resonator. I didn't touch anything in front of it yet.
|
Take the heat shield off your resonator to help it from rusting on the top where water gets stuck.

What's everyone's thoughts on res delete/buying a new resonator/keeping the stock one?
|
I like keeping them, The_Maniac Jason deleted his and says there isn't much change in the note.
If It's a price thing, you can always add it later. |
So you kept the stock one then?
|
No my cat-back switched it to an 18" Magnaflow Resonator
|
loose the resonator if u ask me
|
Well I heard losing the res makes it sometime kinda raspy/ricey in the upper RPMs?

i got rid of my res. and have the stock exhaust with stainless magnaflows and i like the way it sounds, i dunno if having a supercharger makes any difference in the sound of it but i like the way mine sounds
|
note that the sound in the 3800 and 3400 are completely different when looking at vids on youtube - i suggest searching on youtube to find a sound that's what you're looking for
the 3800 tends to have a worse exhaust note, it usually has a point in the exhaust that doesn't sound good, usually raspy or tinny, from what I hear the mufflers in the GMPP/Magnaflow catback don't do this so much, I would try to find those mufflers |
