air intake

I just put an air intake on my 2002 monte carlo ls a 3.4l it was good on the first two days and suddenly it overheat my engine the only thing I change was a chrome tubing and a 3 1/2 cone filter and my sensors are still in place just like the directions told me to do what could it be?

First time i have seen you so welcome.

Questions:

1. Coolant in the motor?

2. Thermostat working?

3. temp sensor plugged in?

4. cooling fan plugged in?

I'll probably think of more later

Ebay crap-intake?

yea, do us a favor and take a picture of the engine bay. I also have a 3.4, mine would heat up SOME extra, but never to the point of red lining it (or even getting close).

If you say its overheating, what are your ECT #'s?

beto Jul 23, 2009 01:12 AM

where can I find the ECT #?

Scan tool plugged into the obd port.

IMO, the stock gauge has too much variation to make a reliable assessment based on it, hence why I asked if you could find out what the actual values from the coolant temp sensor were to know exactly where it is at.
