7th Gens unite! Quick question.

If you guys with the 7th gen ss's, im not sure if 6th is the same... BUT anyhow, if you could have a shop make you a custom exhaust, what would you go for? Like qualities. Im not sure if we have a U bend to delete..or what?

Reason I ask for is cause I found a nice lil shop tucked away, and me and the owner were chatting for a bit and he said he would hook me up with a nice system for a decent/ cheap price AND hopefully, if I have time, show me how to make them. I much pref MPG and moderate HP gain, but I have a SS model, whats MPG gain lol? :rotfl:

So what would YOU do? Im not sure about mufflers fyi..

There is no U-Bend delete on the 7th gen.

And I had a custom exhaust put on my Monte...it was not a bolt on kit. I had the shop covert it from the stock single outlet exhaust to dual and put in two Magnaflow mufflers with a 14" Magnaflow resonator...everything is all welded together. It's held up well in the 6 years I've had it and almost 200K I've put on it.

I didnt think so, and I guess all Im looking at on the SS model is res delete and adding diff mufflers eh?

When you do this, the DOD might sound bad when it kicks on in the highway.

Most people who make their exhaust louder, like to turn off DOD. But I'm not sure on an 07 the easy way to do it. The 06 is easier.

Hiroska 10-28-2013 09:24 AM

I was gonna get a tune where I can make DOD kick on at 60 or so. I dont think its a difference between the 06 and 07 with DOD. But why do ppl turn it off? A Drone noise or..?

ChibiBlackSheep 10-28-2013 09:31 AM

When the car switches over to 4 cyl, you don't have 8 cyl pushing exhaust gasses and it sounds like a helicopter.

The 06 can be tuned with DiabloSport tuner to easily shut the DOD off, the 07 doesn't allow that.

What about lew? Does he still make tunes?

ChibiBlackSheep 10-28-2013 09:40 AM

Lew uses a diablosport to load the tune to the car. Last I knew he was TRYING to get a way to work with the 2007, but I'm not sure if he ever could or not.

Shoot him an email and make sure it's doable :)

You still got his email? lol, I dont remember it. Blasted 07, what else is hard to do on these? Just tunes in general?

ChibiBlackSheep 10-28-2013 10:18 AM

GM probably made a change to the PCM.

Lew can be found from his site: DiabLew Tune - Custom Tuning for GM Vehicles - DiabloSport inTune, Trinity, Predator Custom Tuning by 06MonteSS
