3.4l Intake Help Plz!!!

I am looking into getting the Seceret Weapon intake by Weapon-R for my 2000 monte carlo 3.4l. I have read other reviews throughout sites by consumers stating that it was a good intake and worked on the 3.4l. However, on the 3.4l there is some sensor in the ruber boot of the intake (circled in yellow in the picture bellow). Im not sure if this is part of the MAF or what it is... And do i have to use it in the instalation of a new filter? Also i herd rumor of adding a breather, but i am not sure what a breather is exactly... Can someone please tell me what senseor this is and what i do with it, or without it? Also What is a Breather?

Thats the intake air temperature sensor- you need to put that in your new intake. All it needs is a small circular hole- many parts stores sell a rubber grommet to stick them in too in case you have to drill it into hard piping.

As for a breather- if you mean a valve cover breather- no you don't want that. You have a functional pcv system, and doing a breather defeats its purpose.

Also, that intake looks like a steaming pile of crap. $220 for a hot air intake is ridiculous. Just look at their stupid claim:

This technology increases air volume and speed to the engine, which naturally feeds the engine 3x more air than the conventional air intake system.
3x more air into the engine = 3x the fuel used = roughly 3x the horsepower. If you could spend $200 and make 600 bhp, why wouldn't more people do it?

I dunno how well the intake design works, but from the picture it will draw in hot air, which will make you slower. I bet you end up just as slow in the end.

You need to put the filter in the fenderwell or you need to isolate it from engine bay heat with barriers (as CAI boxes do). I'd just make my own- you could do a very nice intake for 1/3 of that price and get more performance.

I agree with bumpin, all that intake is is a hot air intake. It wont work any better than the thousands of hot air intakes they sell on ebay for 30 bucks. The only thing about that one is that it seems to be a well built piece of crap. Dont even waste your time and money. You have plenty of room where your air box sits to make a nice CAI box. Just do it yourself.
