$1000 cat-back to much
i figure i'll go to the pro's on this one.i posted i while back on what kind of cat-back to get and at the time i was leaning towards borla but damn a g for a cat-back borla ,corsa thats quite a bit.so my question is that overkill?i figure mybe if the monte was modded and pushing like 300 hp's to get better air flow.and they say say its a certain type of steel (cant remember)and stainless etc....i can see if it was more show but it aint, itis a daily driver. so am i wrong guys or what i hate to waste all that money

Hands down Borla has the best sound available imo.
I would say magnaflow if it was offered, but truthy be told, for the most part, stainless exhaust is stainless exhaust. hunt around, find a mufler you like, spend the money to have a reputable fab shop weld up an exhaust and save about 400 dollars.

I have Flowmaster and love them, the only reason I didn't go for Borla is the price. I found a Website the is selling Borla Pro XS muffler for I think $70-$75, they must be a whole seller. But if you bought those that is a saving of close to $100 if say you bought them from summit. Then just have the exhaust shop do res. delete with 2.5" piping all the way back to those mufflers and some stainless tips. It's wickynicky.com

RE: $1000 cat-back to much
jan,25 i had my friend install the cat back magnaflow on my 06 LT3 monte.part #16728,right now i don't have the means to post the sound, sorry. At idle it sounds like a v8,but when you hit the gas the system makes more noise then i thought but reminds you that you still have a v6.the tips are wide almost 4 in.but there is one small problem, part #16707 & 16728 are the same thing.the system is made for a car with no cut outs so the top of the tips hangs about 3 inch from the top of the cut out.we hung the mufflers at the center slot of the rubber hangers, that put the top of the tips one and a half inch from the top of the cut outs.Would like them to hang about one inch but i can live with the way it is.I will try using shorter hangers.Go to magnaflow's site and look up 05 to 08 mustang v6 sound clip,it this about sounds like that.Install i paid $725. the car does respound better. If any body has a better idea to get the tips closer let me know, thanks.

RE: $1000 cat-back to much
A wise man (me) once said "The best muffler is no muffler"
Okay, my car has a glasspack where the resonator used to be, and no mufflers. Personally, I love the sound. You can't get a V8 sound from a V6. The straight pipes and glasspack is cheaper as well... glasspacks are usualy in stock at all muffler shops. Just have him pop one in and some 2.5" pipe lal the way back to some dual 3" chrome tips
PS: Ignore the wise man part....

yepp i have a long glass pack where the resonator used to be and two one small one on each side before the tips and i get compliments all the time... i even came up to some guy with some riced up car and revved the motor up he rolled down his window and was like i would race you but i have 4 less cylinders then you....it cost me a little over 200 bucks to do it too
