Why doesnt this site consider a 7th gen not a 6th gen

I have noticed that several monte sites consider what this site ahs as 7th gen as 6th gen. So my question is why does this one have a 7th gen? If it is because of the bumpers being different and other things. If that is the case then technically there would be 8 gens. Because in the 4th gen there are several differences between the 83-85 and the 86-88, mirrors, interior, tail lights. What is everyones take on this? Do you believe in the 7th gen or do you conside the 6th gen and 7th gen to be the same?

Hi `Ben,
It's been debated by many member's about the difference
between the 6th & 7th Generation Monte Carlo.
The 06-07 has a new front/rear treatment with
suspension changes also.
Plus the V8 and new v-6's, and
complete new interior + more.

Some will say it just a updated 6th Gen Monte, and
other say it's a 7th Gen.
I think it's whatever the owner wants it to be, and I have
owned both a 6th and a 7th Gen (or a updated 6th Gen : )
I love them both, no I love all Generation Monte Carlo's,
some. just more then others.

Isn't it great that we can choose what we want it 2 `be :D
I just think it's great to own and drive a Monte Carlo
of any generation.
They are a Special Breed of Automotive choices.

Hi `Chris,
and thanks that's all that really matters :D 4-Sure

I do like the dash better in the 2000-2005
over the 06-07 Monte's.
I really hope that GM creates another Monte Carlo in our
future. I really like the new Caddy Coupe : ),
but it's way to much $'s, but it's still `free to dream :D
and our government hasn't found a way to tax our
dreams  yet :D
Let the debate continue with respect for every member's
opinion in `peace : )~*
Thanks

There are a lot of differences between the 6th and 7th.... big one being he motor options.... the body is close but not exact

You'll also see a lot of people refer to it as a 6.5 gen, which is probably what I would call it myself.

04MonteLS May 1, 2010 11:52 AM

Why does it even matter? Honestly?

TheMonteMan May 1, 2010 12:04 PM

^^^^^ agreed it doesnt matter, but personally i dont consider it a new gen. its like the camaros 4th gen. 93-97 98-02 all 4th gen different noses hoods tail lights motors but still the same gen. to me different gen should be a completely different body style.

nebstewart07 May 1, 2010 01:09 PM

I would just like to know. I mean its not like I hate this site for that or hate anyone for thinking there is a 7th gen. Its just nice to hear another persons opinion. And maybe I would change my opinion. Now one thing I do dislike is when people think that the 5th and 6th (7th or 6.5) are not monte carlos.
