spark plug wire problem
So i pulled a code for a misfire on cylinder 2. I replaced the spark plug wires oneat a time and when I went to start the car it ran horrible. The only thing I can think of is that i switched the wires somehow. Can anyone clarify the location of the cylinders? Here is what i have-Cylinder 1 is on the bottom left corner, next to the right is 3 and then 5, on the top left is number 2 to the right is 4 and then 6. Also it seems as though a sensor has come disconnected. It runs into the same bundle as the 02 sensor and is very short. I cannot see where it would plug in. Please help I need my car to head to vegas to party!!!

RE: spark plug wire problem
On my s/c 3.8 series II, the cylinders are as follows:
Looking at the engine, the side of the engine facing you is cylinders 1,3,5 from left to right. The other side is 2,4,6 from left to right. I believe there's no difference in cylinder layout between the n/a and s/c. If this is wrong, someone please correct me. There's a sensor that's in the exhaust just before the down tube. You should be able to see it looking from the driver's side between the engine and the firewall. |
RE: spark plug wire problem
Thanks for the help. I went out this morning thinking that maybe it was the new wires that were bad. I put on the old ones and now the car wont even start. I know which sensor you are talking about but it is a different one. This one has a wire that is only about 6 inches long. If someone could confirm that it doesnt plug into anything that would help a lot.
