Side airbag? 2001 Monte Carlo SS
 

So I was browsing Montes for fun. Anyway Came across a ok looking blue one for sale. Decided to check out th epics since I've yet to see a blue and silve combo on in iowa. Pinstriping was neat then I looked at the rest of the pictures. On the shot ont he interior is that a leather side air bag cover on a cloth seat???? :wtf: Little confused. Correct me if I'm wrong but cloth SS seats don't have that right? Well actually first off is that what that patch really is? guess I never knew what it was on my seats lol. Also looks liek from the lights on in the dash it needs a few things looked at. engine light-could be a few things, trac control and ABS would that make it a hub assembly? Just looking not gunna buy it but always fun to look at other Montes :)

I think side air bags were a option on the 01 Monte Carlo & had the plastic cover...the leather & cloth seats both had these covers...

Thats good to know. I'd never yet seen a cloth seat with one on there so it kinda stood out to me. Just didn't look right to me for some reason. I was hoping someone didn't try and do it themselves.

Also side note I wonder what the owner traded it in on for since it's on a Ford lot!

drivers side air bag was standard for the first time in 2001. I have leather in my SS and it is pulling away from the cover as described in the tsb that space referred to.

It was standard in 01 but optional in 03? I don't have one, that's kinda strange.

Mine dont have em either & im happy it dont :D

Perhaps they discontinued it because for whatever reason the leather/cloth pulled away from the case as noted by the tsb the only cure is a new seat cover - which sucks!

They were optional on all montes

Except for us beautiful 2000 owners lol
