Default remote start, any advice, thinking about getting one - UPDATE GOT ONE

Anyone put a remote start on their monte, I'm thinking about one for my 2002, looking for any helpful advice.

What do you have.
What is good about it.
What is bad about it.
Did you install or have someone.
What did it cost.

Anything else.

Thanks.

look into viper, i wouldnt cheap out, i would also have it professionally installed because there are high possibilities of fires so a warranty is almost a must imo. a friend had a viper installed in an intrigue which is basically the same layout and it was professionally done and it took about 4 hours. so double that for on your own and probably not as reliable, no offense.

My dad had one installed in his Buick at Best Buy last year. He loves it. No having to chisel ice from the windows, doors frozen shut, or freezing cold interior. Everything's all nice and toasty warm before you even get in the car.

I can find out tomorrow what brand it is.

The '03 & '06 Montes came with remote start from the factory.

'06.
You hit the door lock on the key fob and hit the start button to use the remote start.

'03.
For the life of me I can not get the #$$^^&* thing to work.
(NOTE: perhaps reading the owner's manual may add some light on the subject?)

I have one on my 01. All I have to do is push the lock button twice on the fab and it starts. Some aftermarket ones have a separate remote. Who ever put the one in my car didn't cheep out, and I love it since it uses the factory remote, and it get fricking cold here in the winter.

Most after market ones(maybe some stock ones?) have a antenna at the relay box that should be run up under the dash and as close to the windshield as possible. Maybe you can find the box/antenna and move it?

The remote start in my 06 works from inside my house maybe 20 something feet away from the car.
