hey kids,what would cause your rearview to like, melt? WTF. this goo is oozing from the two courtesy lights on the bottom of the mirror and getting on my dash and carpet. HELP!

 

What color is this goo?

 

Is it a black goo substance leaking from the mirror? I read a post a while back and (I think it was Chibi) was having the same problem. IIRC it had to do with the auto-dim liquid and the only cure was to replace the mirror.

 

yes it is a black gunk. the face of the mirror looks all weird and the little green light is off. what the hell causes that? never heard that before,on any car.is this a dealer item or a local boneyard fix?

 

It's the electrochromic fluid that auto-dims the mirror.

Hot days, with the windows closed, sitting in the sun will usually do that.

I'm on my 3rd mirror because of this junk.

I hope it didn't ruin what it got on, because that stuff is baddddd

 

well,chibi it didnt ruin anything,but three mirrors? hell where did u find them. i cant locate one let alone three. anyway when i called a couple boneyards around here (i live in the St Louis area) thats the first thing the dude says is the mirror is already gone.and ill bet GM wants a fortune 4 one.so any thoughts fellow MC brothers and sisters?

I had a bad mirror like that too, got one cheap from a junk yard.
