Push/bull bar

I live in an area where there is a decent amount of deer running around and I was wondering if a push/bull bar would be worth it. I’ve always loved the way they look on trucks plus cop cars. My only issue is I don’t know how it would be installed and I don’t want to be a clown who’s purposely trying to impersonate a cop. I own a 05 SS and would like to keep her safe at night

I like that idea. Not sure I would put it on my car but I can definitely see why someone would.

Youll want to look at universal weld on (or you can bolt them if you have a safe spot on the frame) push bars. They come with two bumper hitch looking pieces that you weld or bolt to the frame, then the push bar slides in and is held with pins.

My kids truck has the recievers welded to the frame. I can get a picture of what that looks like. Itll give you a better idea.

Can you weld?

Them cheap Amazon Flux Core welders work great. Ive been using one for the better part of the last 10 years.

These are sold as different brands but this is the exact one I have. Its not the best. The grounding needs replacing, gun is garbage, the wire is ALWAYS hot, it constantly pops my breaker if im running it on high for more than 3 minutes, BUT, the thing works and I can easily weld 1/4" sheet.

Once you 'get to know' it, you can reliably weld whatever you need.

I'd look into the police Impala stuff for the same model year. Your bumper plastic is probably different, but the under structure it mounts to should be the same as they're both W body cars. They made quite a few police + security cars from that Impala body style, so I'd imagine they still offer shelf stock push bars. May be able to get something close to a bolt on.

My worry would be the (lack of) coverage. The typical police push bar style is usually just between the headlights. Would probably leave more than a foot exposed of the front end on both sides. Sounds like you'd want something closer to a brush guard like off road trucks run that at least extends to the bumper edges / has a bit of wrap. Even with that though, if the carcass goes up and over your hood/windshield/a pillar/roof is still at risk.
