Default Problem at the Pump.

Alright, finally fed up with this problem! Every time I go to the gas station to fill up the Monte, I'll stick in the nozzle, begin feuling, and after about $5 of gas, the pump clicks and is set off. Then i have to fill the rest of it up at 0.3 gallons at a time! is this something i can fix myself!? Thanks!

For me it has something to do with the car. It does it everywhere.

You'd either have to replace the filler neck or something is blocking the gas tank (or filler neck) from allowing liquid in quickly.

I have the same issue. Nothing is blocking the neck, from what I have read the tank vent is getting plugged. Then it builds up pressure and the gas kind of gets gets backed up in the filler neck. I have yet to fix it, but i found out Ican get by with just barely cracking open the pump, like 1/8th squeeze and just kind of feel out how fast you can fill it.

I found that if I just let the pump handle sit in the filler neck without holding it up while squeezing the trigger, I don't have the problem. As soon as I hold the pump handle up a bit, that's when it clicks off.

The only thing I can think of is the angle of the filler neck in comparison to the end of the pump handle. If the two line up, the flow of gas goes straight down the filler neck. If the angles are off, the gas is spraying onto the side of the filler neck and causing a big enough backup of gas to click the pump off.

You have a blockage on the vent side of the system. A LOT of times on GMs, it is the vent valve. In fact on C/K bodies there is a TSB for it.

Aren't they easy to just reach up from under the car? I don't think you even have to drop the tank for this repair
