Welcome Chevy Girl to the MCF

Rare Find 4-Sure...a 88 with only 20K miles

Is it a one owner ? I would seek the complete history. How was this Monte Stored/Maintained ? What has been replaced and when ? Was it out sitting next to a barn ?, or stored in a garage ? How was it serviced ? by who ?

I would check all mechanical parts + electrical parts + rubber parts/seals + cooling system + suspension +..etc.

We really need more information on your future Monte to be more specific ? like, have the fluids been changed, etc...

Check the below link (I hope it helps) Let us know more infor+ pictures please.

Welome!

If it has just been sitting 20 years it could have leaks from seals, AC may not work. You will probably need new tires, all the fluids and filters, and hoses changed. Unless some of this has already been done.

But if it is a nice car would be worth the work.

I had to do the above to my Monte and Vette that were sitting a long time although neither of them had any leaks. AC worked on the Monte but had to get a charge on the Vette and the refrigerant updated from R-12.

Check the body an frame.Look for any rust, rot an body work that might have been done.If it's got a good body an frame then your off to a good start.Expect there to be some issues if it's been sitting.

thanks for the responses!
i did a little research the car has had 2 owners but was kept in the same family, the last owner was a collector and had it kept in a garage with several other cars. its from Washington. i didnt see any rust under the car or leaked fluid (its kept in the showroom of a dealership) i also checked the trunk no rust either. tires have some wear but it looks even. the car is amazingly clean. only problem is that they cant tell me much about the maintenance thats been done on the car but i was so in love with it i had to have it so i put a couple grand down so they could hold it. the last owner of the car is good friends with the manager at the dealership and the car was actually on consignment so im actually going to meet him on wednesday so he can give me more info

Is this a white Monte Carlo located in Lynwood? I stopped and looked at one yesterday they claim is a local car with a little over 21K miles on it. It has an Edelbrock intake manifold and headers on it, but otherwise is supposed to be stock. They said they were holding it for someone, so I'm thinking it may be the same car you're talking about. It's very clean...good luck!

That's a sweet lookin' ride! I don't think you can use the attachment (picture) option on the forum until you have been a member for 10 days and made 10 posts...or something like that. What a lot of people do is open an account at a photo hosting site (like Photobucket) and upload their pictures to that account. Then they copy the IMG code of the picture and paste it into their post on the forum so the picture shows up.
