I can't remember who told me this but somebody put a 5.7 Hemi into a chevy car, and told me that one would fit in my car, don't know if its all true but thats something I heard.

Any Ideas on what ls engines will fit the new 06-07 monte besides the one in the ss, Whats the biggest ls engine that could be modded to fit?

Just curious

RE: oh my god!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

maverick, any of the ls motors will fit. you would just need to bare block it so you can fab it to fit a fwd transmission. so the biggest is the ls7 :)

RE: oh my god!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would be happy with a LS7 crate engine, mating 6 speed auto tranny, and a CTS-V differential. That's all!

RE: oh my god!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice, well when I do an engine swap in the future once I get the most use out of my engine, I will look into an LS7, I love a corvette, but I think I am gonna have so much passion in my monte that I will make it a true powerhouse if its affordable at the time. I wanted to get a c6 vette for 25-30 grand but the payment and roll over on my car would not be nice, I would rather have a nice engine in my car that I would really be proud of popping the hood at cruise nights or at shows and being able to race with my buddys srt8 and keep up if not beat him some day. Great info, Your a really knowlegable guy Inssanity, Its great to be able to learn from you and the others on the forum

:)

Wait a minute, didn't realize a ls7 and transmission was going for 20 grand and just the engine is around ten grand, I think I will check out the other ls engines, although it be sweet, Inssanity if you can post some prices on the ls engine family and if you can give a price on their transmissions too. I want to see what a good price is on these engines could be

RE: oh my god!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well the ls7 itself is about 14 grand. but thats with all the hardware. you would have to keep a ls4 crank in it. custom headers, and youd have to start with a bare block so you can drill and tap the mating points of the front wheel drive trans. overall i believe that youd be looking at abotu $20000 for the whole get up and go.

an ls3 on the other hand will go for about 14 for the whole picture. this is due to the pice of the crate motor to be about half that of the ls7. http://www.shopfbparts.com/servlet/Detail?no=154 (ls3)
http://www.shopfbparts.com/servlet/Detail?no=67 (ls7)

and if you were looking at prices of an ls7 keeping mind in the corvette that trans is located in the rear and its all one piece of driveline. (you could of seen that price tag instead)

for bare blocks and i think you would get those from a gm perforance parts direct store.

hehehehehehehehe wooooo money

This help at all? It's not an LS7, but still an LS engine and trans.

RE: oh my god!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I'd bet that when the LS9's and LS7's are on the road more (and start getting wrecked), the price of the LS2 will go down alot too.
I think that same place has LS1 engines w/ trans for 5 grand.
