Looking to beef up my 86 base model to kick at least 4-500 hp what tranny and block should i go with the block i have was perfect until the high torque starter busted off the block

I don't know the answer to your question but I am sure you will get several responses that will get you up and running again.
I am running a 350 sbc with a Th350 in my 84 but mine is pretty much stock. Unsure of hp.

Yes, you can always have stuff done later. I, personally, like the 350/350 set up....It works for me anyway (for now...LOL)

You can get 4 - 500hp out of a 350 as long as you have the money. The options are limitless for what you can do. Do some research and design a motor that will work best for the application you will be using the car for, such as a daily driver, sunday's only, or quarter mile beast as these will play a factor in what exactly you want done to the motor.

A turbo 350 tranny is a great one as they are easily available and easy to rebuild or buy shift kits for.
