My Spring Mods

Well I've got a few mods up my sleeve come Spring time. First of all, the simplest, I'm planning on tinting the windows and installing some in-channel rain guards. It just gets too hot in the summer time, plus with the color of my car, I think darkening the windows will help make it pop. Legally the front windows have to allow over 50% of the light in (which no one follows) any other windows can be however dark you'd like. Anybody have suggestions for percentages? I know the common is 35 - I don't want too dark but I also don't want it so light that it's pointless.

Secondly, the brakes need some work, so I'll probably be doing some drilled and slotted rotors followed up with new callipers and I'll paint them red, A for looks and B to keep the winter salt from attacking them like it currently is.

Third, I'm going to replace my cracked up taillights with some 06-07 style ones, question is, do I leave them the stock red or do I have them tinted slightly. Not blacked out, not niteshaded, just a TINY bit, to make them look more...cherry red?

Lastly, new...bigger wheels. My stock wheels are peeling like no other, and they're only 16", good for winter but they don't fill the wheel wells very good. So I'm debating between these two choices.

or Moda MD10s

Pictures aren't the best - plus the back wheels angle was a pain to match. Bear in mind also - in both pictures, I'm putting 17" rims on 16" tires so it looks squished.

Here's stock for comparison

Ok. Poll is above - give your vote and also post a tint percentage that you think would look good - of course obviously it's hard to just guess, but from past experience what have you found to be darker but not too dark.

FWIW - I really like the cherry red color of the LED tail lights I installed on my '03 so I voted for the cherry red tint tail lights. IMO the Dale Jr wheels will make your Monte look like every other Monte out there. I think the MD10s will make it stand apart from the rest, so my vote goes to them. I don't have tinted windows so I can't offer an opinion about that.

Cherry tails, md10s & 35 or 20% for tint

Franks 03SS 12-06-2011 07:57 PM

cherry tails, md10's and 20% which is what i have on mine (i think:confused:) but sometimes i wish i had 15% :p
if it comes down to the MD10s, which size are you going with? 18's would be badass!

cherry tails for sure. tint as dark as you can go! i have 15% and wish i had 5%... rims the md10s but id go bigger. personally dont like stock rims. even if they are "different" then your car came with originally got throw something aftermarket on there and if go with 18s! little more money but well worth it!

I voted for the MD10's. Unless you could get some Dale Jr wheels for a STEAL, you might as well go aftermarket (that was what I did with my Monte, as I originally wanted diamond spoke or Dale Jr wheels on mine, but it made more sense to get the MODA wheels I got).

I also voted for stock tails. Call me crazy, I think the stock tails look good.

Good luck making your decisions. Some of these ones can be tough (I know when it came to wheels for mine, I was really tossed on what ones to get, one of the styles I wanted I saw on a 7th gen Monte at the Monte Nats and decided those were no longer on the consideration list).

I'd say tint the tails. As for the wheels not to sure about which i'd go with

Jr. wheels, cherry tails and 20% all the way around. i had a 2000 blazer zr2 with the factory rear privacy glass which is 20% and that was pushing it at night so imop i wouldnt go any darker
