I'm chimming in a bit late again... So my sincerest sympathies for your loss. I too have a similar story as I lost a Monte as well.

I purchased a used 05 white LS in 2005 with under 20kmiles while I was attending college. I had just blown the head gasket on my 94 S-10 and needed a new car. I got an AMAZING deal on this 05 Monte, UNDER 10K with the trade in of my truck! I purchased the car in October, and lost it on Februray 22, 2006. I had not done any modifications to the car as I was still in college, but did always want to do a few things. The only thing I saved from the car was a set of rubber floor mats that are now currently in my NEW Monte carlo. They're red dragon fire floor mats that I have had in all three of my Montes. I told everyone that the car saved my life, as on a slick icy winter morning, I lost control at 55 mph on the highway and rolled the Monte several times... its final resting spot was upside down in the opposite lane of the highway (after rolling through the median). I had to crawl out the windshield. The highway had many accidents that morning and I was fortunely on my wat to the hospital anyway to complete my internships.. I walked away without a scratch.

Considering I paid 10K (plus trade in) for the car my insurance was awesome, and I got just over 10 for it. I knew without even blinking what my NEXT car was: A Monte Carlo! As luck would have it, while looking at a local dealership, a private seller was just rolling out of the dealership with my NEXT Monte... it was a 2002 red LS. I had always wanted a RED Monte and this was my shot. I got it for 9400 and still had PLENTY left over for modifications that I had always wanted to do on my previous Monte. I got a set of 16" chrome Panther rims, a red nascar style spoiler and an autostart. This was the start of my modification sickness!

It's very true that EVERYTHING happens for a reason, and when a door is shut, a window opens... use whatever cliches' you like. But you have to take the postive that comes out of each negative. I truly believe I'm still here because of my Monte Carlo, and here I am now, the proud owner of limited edition #2627 Dale Jr. SS Supercharged Monte Carlo! VROOOOOOOM!!!

Again my deepest condolences for your loss, but it sure looks like you are headed in the right direction to correct a very tragic loss in your life. And we all hope we haven't lost a member of our forum family... So find yourselfe ANOTHER sweet *** Monte Carlo!!!!

P.S. Thanks for reading this long-winded rambling diatribe ... Like I said, reading this REALLY hit close to home for me... and right now, I could NEVER invision losing either of my dream cars right now... so I had to throw in my two cents.

P.S.S. You will LOOOOOVE the s/c 3800! It is an unbelievable experience! After owning two modest 3400's, there is NO comparision for the s/c! Just take it all into consideration, and dont' become the carless one! LOL! Cuz it can easily take you over!!

Thanks for the post #2626. Your story did seem really similar to mine. My car did its job, kept me safe, seat-belts locked, and much of the body took minimal damage, with the sole exception of the impacted area.

What I miss most about my car, is the car itself. The Monte Carlo, especially the 6th generation, is a rather unique looking American car, nothing out there quite like it. It's very distinguishable, especially my bright Victory Red Monte, always the first car that pops out in a crowded parking lot.

Ahh, but I hope better days are to come with this new 2004 Monte, she's all I look forward to. Thank you for sharing your story, I found I was able to relate with it very well.

Sorry to be getting on this a little late but I am sorry to hear about your Monte. The important thing is you and everyone else involved is alright. I hate to hear about the loss of a Monte and I dont know what or how I would feel if that happened to me, maybe outrage??!! My Monte was passed along to me from my dad so my car means the world to me. That being said I hope your next Monte helps sooth the loss and if its an Intimidator I am sure it will and then some.
