MPD Hood

Whom here has the hood for the 2006-2007 Monte and can you give me advice on the hood as fit and finish and was it worth the cost?
I have save 1000 so far and are saving to get it painted and the stripes.

Hey Mel

I have the hood. Eric cuts the hood slightly larger than needed becuse not all fender gaps are the same between cars, so the shop will have to "Shave" it. Erice did mine himself as I drove down to get it. On my hood you can notice some small waves (If you look hard and know where to look) but over all better than any hood I have ever seen (You know I am anal about the Deuce) the guys at Mason Auto Body where I had it painted said it was the best workmanship they have seen come into their shop.

If you need more data feel free to PM me or continue on here.

I paid about another $800 to have the hood painted (underside and top with clear coat) and to have the stripe added. Shop said they just needed to water sand no other pre-conditioning was required

As many complemnts as I have gotten on the hood YES it was well worth the cost and I have no regrets. Check my pics on car domain or my garage here.

Also ask Zipper, 06Misstrss, Ashley or RockinSS about my hood as they have seen it in person

Mel, do you mean shaving the edes of the hood to get a uniform gap between the hood and fenders? If so, any body shop should do it. Eric just used a gel coat knife, sander and grinder (but he has done this 100 times b4) even he had the hood off and on about a half dozen times before he was happy, but he is a perfectionist too.

If you can make the trip to Indy (minus your stock hood) Eric will do it for you included in the cost of the hood (At least he did 4 me)

BTW I hear it could take 8 weeks to get a hood now as he builds them as the orders come in

The gold stripes are painted on by mason auto Body.

If you do mean the decals; Mason Auto body (My fav paint shop) hired a vinyal cutter/Decal maker to do it.

They placed the decal on the hood, painted the gold stripe over the red base then removed the decal to show the base red paint underneath

Yeah the hood and finish looks very nice on Tadd's. I'm anal about my car too and can usually pick up on imperfections and when stuff doesn't look right. I couldn't see any of the waves Tadd mentioned. Looks like it was a factory fit and finish.
