-Monte Carlo Convertible -
No Monte Carlos came from the factory with convertible options, however the Malibu convertible top fit perfectly, so they are just custom modified convertibles with a Malibu top.
What I was told was............... the Chevelles of the same vintage are the parts suppliers.
You bascally have to disect the Chevelle and Monte at the same points. Then you use the Chevelle convertible parts to put the Monte back together.
Of course a Malibu convertible of the same years can be used for parts too since they and Chevelles are the same cars.
PS. I wanted to do an '86-88 SS Monte. Make it a convertible. I guess there is or was a company doing it to the car already. Not saying their product came out before my dream? Who knows?

i have owned 2 gen and 4th gen covertible motes over the years and love a open air car
also RJ 4th gen convertible we 1st done and sold at dealers from the aftermarket starting with a few in 81 and 82 most were 83 convertible then 84 had very few 85 non power top cars and powertop monte verts came into play 86 to 88 most i have found were non power top ss cars and power top ls car there have been power top 86 to 88 ss cars but not too many ever pop up for sale
yes added frame rail suports were added. i also saw two that the aftermarket place that did them had boxed frames but no tags on those cars on who did that conversion. you will find most of the trans ams an camaro convertibles of the 80`s share the same convertible top parts as the monte also as do many other cars from that era
