Default looking at buying a new monte carlo

well not new, a used one, but a 2000 something model. my spending limit is $6k. I want a car with leather, and a nice spoiler and rims. Should i spend the extra money on a SS with that little HP gain? or can i find a nice LS with those options on it? Also, what are some good parts places for hiperformace parts, detailing, etc. thanks Guys!

I can't remember 100% but I think my local Chevy dealer has a yellow '03 for around $13,000?

I know the car's an '03, I just can't remember the price?

Get a SS!! Trust me I have an LS and sure the options are nice, but I really really wish I had the 3800 V6. It has alot more power stock, and there are way more mods for it.

yeah, I've seen some montes around my area for $6k, and they a couple were SS's. I have some questions. 1. Are they more reliable then a 2000 something v6 mustang? 2. Are they faster then a 2000 mustang? I know the mustangs have rear wheel drive, which i like, and im sure the monte has front wheel. I dont really like front wheel drive. Im trying to choose between a monte carlo or a mustang. Help me out here guys. thanks

I can't speak to reliability versus the Rustangs, as I don't know anyone that owns one. I can tell you
my baby has 74,800 miles and no significant repairs.
As for performance, I've personally smoked several V6 Rustangs on the street and they can't have
all been poor drivers. My car is a stock 02 SS and I've been very happy with her. Doubt you'll get
one for less than 10K though unless it's got lots of miles. Good luck and happy hunting!

the monte will hold its resale and out last that mustang by all means especially if you get the 3.8 and it will beat a v6 mustang. hell these 3.9 will out run the 4.6 "95-99" and 5.0"87-93" fox body stangs if they are stock. you dont want a mustang they are cheap man go for the gold and get the monte it is so much nicer and insurance might be better for you too

Insurance is way better over the Rustang, especially for drivers under 25. I have an '05 LT (3.8L non-supercharged) and I smoke V6 Rustangs all day. Reliability?...Shoot, man, were talking Chevy versus Ford here...nuff said. And, the Monte is more comfortable. You thinking of taking a road trip? With the Monte, you will be able to haul all your provisions and all your friends. In comparison, the Monte Carlo wins hands down. Why would you want to be like every other sheep out there and drive something as common as quartz when you could be driving a diamond?

I think that about sums it up, no?

Okay don't let my girlfriend read this, she swears she wants a Rustang...... (OH the pain). But Stangs are like a--holes. You know, everyone has one.

Not only did we pack everything we own into the '06 2LT Monte we rented to attend the 2006 Monte Carlo Nats back in june. But we also brought along the pets and all our friends.

Okay, maybe not ALL our friends. We only have two and I'm sure one stayed at home.

See what I mean? My point exactly. Try all that in a Rustang.

I was remembering this thread while waiting on a friend in a parking lot this afternoon. I counted 24 2000 - 2006 Rustangs passing by on the street in the space of 15 mins. Only 3 Monte Carlos. Yeah, everyone has an a$$hole.
