Keyless Entry for 97 z34
 

I just received a 1997 Z34 last Wednesday for my 18th birthday. The dealer from where the car was purchased did not have the remote for the keyless entry. Is there any way I could take a spare remote and program it to work with my Z34? Thanks for the help

The remote has to be a remote for your year, make & model car I believe. You should be able to find new remotes on Ebay much cheaper than the dealer. SEE LINK BELOW

If you have the correct remote for your year and model car you may want to try this.

I don't know if your radio programming is the same as mine to program the key fob or not tho.

These are Remote Keyless programming instructions from my 2003 Monte Carlo SS Owners Manual.

Programming mode
To reset or customize the features, you must first enter the vehicle customization menu.
To enter main menu, do the following:

1. Turn the ignition to ACC or ON. The radio must be off.
2. Press and hold the TUNE DISP button on the radio for at least five seconds until SETTINGS is displayed.
3. Press the SEEK PSCAN up or down arrows to scroll through each available feature on your main menu.
4. Press the 1 PREV or 2 NEXT buttons to scroll through the lower menu.
An asterisk (*) will appear next to the item that is the current setting.

The following information shows how to reset or customize features after entering the main menu.
Settings (Display Current Settings). This displays all current settings

FOB PROG (Remote Keyless Entry Transmitter programming)
This feature allows you to match the remote keyless entry transmitter to your vehicle.
To match your transmitter, do the following.

1. Scroll, using the SEEK PSCAN up or down arrows until the FOB PROG appears on the display.
2. Press the 1 PREV or 2 NEXT button to enter the submenu.
3. Press the TUNE DISP button to start programming.
When the PUSH FOB flashes, press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the transmitter at the same time for 15 seconds. A chime will be heard to verify the transmitter is learned.
4. Repeat step 3 for each additional transmitter.
The transmitter is programmed now.
You can either go on to the next feature available on the vehicle or Exit.

TO EXIT

Scroll until EXIT appears on the display.

Press the TUNE DISP button to exit programming.
A chime will be heard to verify the exit.

I was wondering this myself. Do years matter? Like would a 95 or 97 work for my 96? Or would I need my specific years.

I would be willing to bet they are compatable between those years noted.
