heated seat not....heating

Not sure if this is the place for this question, but since there is no interior section I find it most appropriate.

Since it's getting cool outside, I've been using my heated seats more often. Lately it seems my driver side doesn't get warm (even on hi). I compared it with the passenger side and that makes your bum nice and toasty. Is there a way to test it to make sure it's not the heating element? I'd hate to have to rip the seat apart and replace it.

I have the same problem. Passengers say it feels like theyve peed themselves and are very warm. My driver's seat is out. From searches it seems like the driver side going out is a common problem, probably cause its the most sat in seat.

YOU can check for resistence at you plug in at harness under seat. no resistence and you heat wiring is broke. the heater is sewn into the leather. I had to buy a new bottom leather cover and now have heat. check res. on both parts because if the bottom is broke then niether top or bottom will work. same deal if the seat back is the problem. both parts have to work to complete the circuit.

Talked to a trustworthy mechanic (Audi) and he pretty much said what Jeff said. I'm certain it was working a few weeks ago when I accidentally turned it on. Now that it's getting colder out I definitely notice it not working right. I hope my warranty covers this cus I can't afford the money for this right now (bought used with 1yr warranty in july).

of course it's going to quit when the cold weather starts. hope you get it fixed under warranty because you will crap you pants when you check prices. on gmpartsdirect each cover is about $300.00 with s/h. that's where I got mine and paid $100.00 for an install

You can check it out without removing the seat from the car. It is the green connectors underneath, and you can bypass the broken heater with a jumper wire. I've done it before. A multimeter can check continuity of the circuit.
