governor on 3800 engne

Is there a governor on 3800,because my SS wont go over 100?

burgundybullet 02-07-2013 04:25 PM

Most likely there is. I wanna say that the SS goes over 120mph with one but dont quote me on that.

turbo monte 02-07-2013 04:47 PM

yes it is governed from the factory. aftermarket tunes can disable the speed governor though.

tps221 02-07-2013 06:31 PM

lol and my 3100 is governed to 115

The_Maniac 02-07-2013 07:05 PM

It's a speed limiter in the PCM software. Are you looking to remove that limit?

04LaVaSS 02-07-2013 10:22 PM

ive had my 3800 at 135..... is that what they top at? I couldnt go any faster cause the end of the track was approaching so i had to brake. Seemed pretty quick to me

MonteCarlSS 02-07-2013 11:20 PM

The governor is set to 125 for the SS's and 115 for the LS's

MAMONTE 02-08-2013 08:13 AM

My 06 3.5L was set for 107. I got that removed with the tune. ;)

killerBee 02-08-2013 09:54 AM

Yes I wanna remove it. I haven't really tried to go over 100 with this weather
