fuel guage

Recently, my fuel guage has been erratic. It will not stay at one position until I drive for a while, then it still won't read correctly. Any clue what it might be. I'm thinking a sensor???

RE: fuel guage

My fuel guage as of right now is not working correctly. the needle does not read correctly how much gas i have so i have to go off of the miles i have driven. to know how much gas i have, i believe the fix to my problem is the fuel sending sensor.like you said. but i've heard that you can get to the gas tank through the trunk where that silver plate is. Do you know anything about this?

Yeh, there is an access plate in the trunk. If you lift the padding in the rear of the trunk near the seats you will see the plate. I found a fuel sensor sending unit on rockauto.com for $92. Not sure what is involved in replacing though. I wouldn't think it wouldn't be that difficult.
