Fuel Filters

Just want to see what kind of fuel filters everyone’s running. One of those days, just want to ask an inane question.

I've used ZZP's "performance" unit.
Fram
Ac delco

Anyone try Wix?

I was looking over a few forums and many people HATE Fram for some reason, why?

Looking at the max rate of flow, the Fram is better.
Fram: Rated 90 GPH
Wix: Rated 1 GPM = 60 GPH...

Fram Filter as little as 10 microns
Wix Filter as little as 17 microns
Just one of those why? things, you know…

Most Fram oil filters are complete crap...only good one is the $9 one, its the Fram Xtended Gaurd, in the gold box.

As for fuel filters, AC Delco, and Wix are great.

Wix also makes good oil filters.

That's what I've been hearing but I've never had any issues with them...I get them cuz they are very cheap at Walmart. But like you stated, "xtended guard the only good ones" and thats what I use...

But we are talking fuel filters...

So Wix for fuel filter huh? I might give it a try since I've tried the rest.

It seem just seems strange that everyone is all up on Wix when the numbers fair on the side of Fram...dunno

I used the ZZP one in both my monte and old gtp. I'm sure its just some repackaged brand though, I doubt its anything special.

Mac7504 07-16-2010 03:48 PM

Yeah, I agree. It even looks like a Wix filter....^^^

where are the fuel filters on the montes? theyre pretty easy to swap arent they? i kinda would like to switch mine out for a non original one lol

You should replace your fuel filter every 50,000 miles.

IDK where they are in the 6th gen Monte to be exact. The 06/07 Monte's DO NOT have a fuel filter. I know in a 2000 Bonneville L36, the fuel filter is on the drivers side, under the car right around the location of the back door.

driver's side in front of the rear wheel. about the size of a short salami stick.

^^^^ahahhaah Yup, short salami stick....Right by the rear wheel...
