engine knock sensor & wont run when hot
 

I may have 2 seperate issues here. i bought a 1996 monte LS that has 141,000 miles on it. there is alot of noise coming from the engine (lifters & maybe a little knock). i unplugged the knock sensor because the car (sometimes) will not start after it has been warmed up, but that didnt help. sometimes it will start but it barely idles and has no power. i need to let it completly cool down before it will start again. i dont think it is the temp sensor because the gage seems to work ok. i havent yet checked to see if the fans are turning. it almost seems that the computer thinks the car is to hot and therefore retarding the timing ? ~ please advise

thanks for all the fantastic ideas and inputs. it turned out to be the fuel pump ! ??

This is probably the reason for no inputs... nobody would have thought of this.
