Are ebrakes different from the rear brakes?

I had my oil changed and on the sheet it says that "e-rear brakes almost metal to metal"

Are these different from the pads? I can't take a good look, someone borrowed my jack.

the emergency brake is inside the rotor on the rear. its not the same pad that rides on the rotor thats visible throw the wheel. its like a drum brake almost. its shaped like a horse shoe. you cant see it from outside. at least thats the case on my 06.

They likely lied to you. It is a mini-drum brake setup inside the rotor. There is no inspection plug to check the parking brake. 2nd, it doesn't wear unless you drive around with the parking brake on. 3rd, do you even use it?

OMG...

read the report wrong.. the "E-" was from something on the top line.

Well at least I know the difference now

FWIW, you can pull the rear wheels and get a good look at the brakes. I would replace anything under 2mm of material left. If they were "metal on metal" you would hear it.
