Do regular hardware stores cut the duplicate?
Does it need programing?
Whats the cheapest way to get a functioning spare key?

regular hardware stores do cut it and i dont think they need to be reprogrammed but it may depend on the vehicle, mine didnt need to be reprogrammed, mine is an 04

 

It depends on what year. My 05 only came with one key and I bought some blanks on ebay too. I went to the local hardware store, got them cut and they work fine. They unlock the doors and start the car no problem.

 

i think the digital keys were more of a ford thing? or at least in the early 2000s it was more ford i believe

 

Yeah the ebayers ad says keys set to go -just cut..mines a 03 SS -sold with only one key but 2 fob's..i always put an extra key under the rear bumper..usually used to open the door to get the keys locked inside by "my insignificant other" :p im not waiting to lose the original and all the crap that sounds like goes on after that!

 

I need a second key, I guess I'll be checking out e-bay also!! thanks
