Default buy a new/used monte

Hey everyone I was looking for anyone that had any peculiarities or things to really look for in a new Monte Carlo...

I have previously owned a 85 Monte and was looking for a newer monte as my daily driver, however I am not too familiar with the newer Monte Carlo's as I know much of you probably are, so I am Wondering what I should really keep an eye out for..

the Monte Carlo I'm Looking at is an 2003 LS 6cyl with 84919 miles reading on the odometer.(I'm thinking that these are mainly highway miles) the features are what I'm mostly looking for except on the website (it's on dealer lot) it states that it has Driver side remote mirrors, and the question about this is do they mean that it is power mirrors or manual I have never heard that expression before so thats my question about that..

If anyone has any information about this subject please give a shout out, as I don't want to make a big mistake on this purchase if I can avoid it.

thanks for your time and knowledge

I'm pretty sure it means power mirrors, but remote was a term used long ago for manual in my area. There was kind of a consensus to stop using it since people got confused and stopped going to certain dealerships because of things like this.

I would check the engine size. You will want to get one with a 3.8 L engine if possible. Very rare engine problems and the 3.4's have intake gasket problems... my old roommate included.

Welcome to the web site. Hope you decide to stay a while.

I think if you buy the car you'll enjoy it. Most of us on here love our cars. Sure we all have little things we'd change but you can find that with any make/model of car or truck.

In the fall of 2006 I was able to purchase an '06 Monte. I like it alot. And I also own an '86 LS Monte I got in december, 1996.

Thanks for the help I was unaware that the 3.4Ls had intake gasket problems, because from what I've heard it was a pretty solid engine platform. I don't understand why the dealership didn't just state power/manual mirrors its pretty stupid if you ask me...

still wishing I didn't screw up the frame on my '85 may she rest in peace...
