Anyone collect car brochures?
 

I've got a small collection going, and it's a fair variety: front-drive cars, rear-drive cars, domestics and imports too, even a couple of trucks. Some luxury types, some sporty types, and some true performance types. The photography is always nice (gives me ideas), and it's fun to look thru the spec lists and option charts in the back.

I think the oldest brochure I have currently is a 1978 Buick full-model-range. When looking thru that one, it's definitely striking to see how times have changed, like what was considered good then, and what's good nowadays.

I try to collect the brochures for the cars I own and/or really into. I have almost all the 3rd gen Camaro ('82-'92) brochures, along with for my old '93 Grand Am and my '04 Monte.

I agree, it's neat seeing how the manufactures show off the cars and highlight what was important at the time. Such as in the '93 Grand Am (which was the same from '93-'95), they show a pic that is translucent of the center console and it has the old brick cell phone in the center console!

But it does give you a lot to reflect about with how cars have changed over time and added features.

Well, I've finally completed my little collection of 5th-gen Monte Carlo brochures. At first, I only picked up the 1995 one to go with my 1995 model year, but soon after, I thought why not get the '96 and '97 too, and recently got the '98 and '99 editions to round it out.

Not much changes between '95 and '99; you could probably count the differences on one hand... or maybe two, if you're being really technical. ;)
Still, I just enjoy checking out all the details. It's interesting that I've never collected this many brochures for any other car I've owned; must be something special in that "Monte Carlo magic" (even for the not-as-popular 5th-gen).

One funny thing that each brochure has in common with all the others in the set is at least one big photo inside of a Torch Red Z34, like it was always "Chevrolet's Official Color of the Monte Carlo Z34" or something. A red Z34 is even on the cover for the '98 and '99 brochures. They look good, don't get me wrong, but the emphasis on that one color is striking. Maybe it just fits best with the red-bowtie theme Chevy had for its uplevel performance cars throughout the '90s.

I got some of the 5th Gen brochures also, and then I collected the 6th and 7th Gen also.
Some I have 2 or an update as well.
I also have some old Chevelle, and Camaro ones.
Not long ago I found a Buick Brochure from 1960 which my dad owned a 60 Buick Electra.
Once in awhile you stagger onto them and its just fun to look through the pile and see what is out there and survived yet.
I have seen some that have been matted and framed for wall hangings too.
