2007 5.3 LS4 Engine RPM

I have a technical question about my 2007 MC SS.

My Monte has 31k on the clock with the 5.3 LS4 engine. It runs great, good gas mileage, clean as a whistle. But, I am not sure if this is right.

When sitting in park and I rev the engine, the most RPM I can get on the Tach is 3500. I have floored it in park and the revs will stop climbing at 3500. The spec's of the 5.3 LS4 are 5600. Is this right? It doesn't sound like the car is starving air or gas. On the highway doing 60mph you floor it the tranny will downshift as required but RPM's max out at 3500. ??????? Weird or supposed to happen?

I was thinking a computer problem? I was also thinking of getting a performance tune to maybe correct the problem if there is one.

Thanks in advance.

That is the rev limiter kicking in to stopping you from blowing the engine up in park. It's a safety feature that has saved GM millions of dollars your car is fine. It shouldn't be doing it when your driving.
