Default 2006 Monte Carlo Tow a Bass Boat

Can I tow with this boat around the block to the boat launch?

I will eventually get a truck if I get a boat, but with a lake only a block away it is so tempting....

you might want to use a truck, or take it easy with the monte. go into the lower gears to get yourself a start and shift the gears

I wouldn't recommend it with the added stress, but it's doable. (just DON'T leave it in overdrive)

great info on the trailer hitch space. keep in mind that 3500lbs is what the hitch is rated for, not the car itself. how big is the boat? do you know how much it weighs? how much tounge weight is there? since there isn't leaf springs like on a pickup, it won't hold much tounge weight at all. i would bet the monte would only take ~300lbs tounge weight max.

i've thrown around the idea of getting a trailer hitch to pull a single snowmobile trailer, but that's a lot lighter than a boat. if you can find all the weight and towing capacities (google that sh*t!) for your monte and then the weight of the boat, then you will have your answer.

I believe the owners manual says...1,000LBS max tow...Personally I would not tow anything more than maybe a jet ski with my Monte. But being its just around the corner you probably could get away with it.

I just think about having to pull the boat out of the water, and up the ramp...stress on the tranny for sure.

Then again, my dad used to tow a 17foot boat with his 1986 Camaro Z28 5speed. He said he just let the clutch out, and peels rubber all the way up the ramp in 1st gear.
