1998 Z34 3.8 what engine can I swap this out with???

Hi guys and thanks in advance for your help. I have a 98 Z34 that is totally stock and Street but it has a blown engine. I can’t find a Z34 Engine that I can afford that would like to buy a cheap car that has a 3.8 L V-6 in it that I can put in my MC. What vehicles year etc. should I be looking at? Thanks for your help

Pontiac had the 3.8 v6 as well as Chevy. Impala, and check the Pontiac. You may not want to go much over the 99 or 2K many of the others would have more computer stuff. Check craigs list too.

But I can put pretty much put any 3.8L in even if mine was a z34?

Just out of curiosity, what about a 3.1 liter 3100 V6 which came in the Monte Carlo LS? Would that be an easier swap than a later 3.8 liter? Probably no one else in America ever put one in a Z34, but those engines are probably easy to find since they made so many in the 90s and it would be unique.

The series 2 3800 came in a lot of cars, the z34 version wasn't special. Easiest to find will probably be a Grand Prix or Impala. Most junkyards should have a few 3800s. Unless it's super high mileage or really wrecked, maybe you can get away with just a short block swap?

Not sure why anyone would bother. That's a lot of work to lose 40 hp. If you really want a 3100 Monte, Id imagine you could get a whole car for under $1000 nowadays.

No doubt it's a common engine in junkyards, but the 3800 series 2 should be right up there in terms of ease to find in a junkyard.
