06 ss

I found a 2006 Monte SS with 40000 one owner miles on it today. It comes with a 12000 mile warranty and is fully loaded. The dealer is asking $16000 for it. Is this a good deal? I'm going to take it for a ride tomorrow. Is there anything specific I should watch for on this model?

It's a decent price, if it's a decent SS
Please be patience, & I am sure our member's that
have the 06/07 SS will post their opinion's.

I strongly suggest asking dealer for a CarFax Report,
that gives a history on subject SS.
Owners/service/in service dates, etc..

If you are not a mechanic or inclined, I alo suggest
searching out someone you trust that has automotive
knowledge & inviting them to test drive with you.

Read the warranty that is offered, really close.
R. U. Trading ?
Dealer's play games with #'s, but if you are
buying out right (no trade) You can play the
bid'in Game. If you like the SS, then Start
with offering like $13K, and adjust to what you
are willing to pay, or not...It's your hardWork'in $'s.

Check back later :) to see what our Member's Post.

Great tips Space!! (I wish I knew you before I bought my car haha)
Also see why the last owner sold it. It sounds like a pretty good deal, but always check out a few options.

LnLSS06 04-26-2009 07:55 PM

That looks like a great price concidering I'm selling mine privately for 17.5 with 27k miles on it.

AwesomeSS 04-26-2009 08:13 PM

Kinda high mileage for the year - find out when it was built - early or late 06 - then you might have some wiggle room on the price.

guitarjay76 04-26-2009 08:52 PM

Also, are there any available exhausts out there to make these things loud, or are real duals an option? Stock systems are too quiet for me.

Cully77 04-26-2009 10:38 PM

Too high on price but that's to be expected from the dealer. I paid less than that for my 06 with 28K just this past january

RickAKATed10 04-27-2009 10:29 AM

I bought my 2006 SS for $16,600 with 16,500 miles on it (2 owners, but it's GM Certified Used). You should be able to talk that price down.

Good luck!

I didn't get an SS but I bought my '06 LTZ in october, 2006 with 10,8xx miles on it for $17k.

Sounds like this dealer is asking a bit TOO much for the car.

guitarjay76 04-27-2009 05:27 PM

didnt get to drive that ss today. its been raining here all day so i figured id wait till it dries up. ive been debating trading my 2000 z/28 in on it if i really like it, so i need to know how it performs on dry pavement. the guys over at ls1 tell me they run about 14.5 stock, so i figure with some mods i can get to about where my camaro is now. anyone ever run their 06 ss against a late model f body? if so, how'd you do? and how do you make these cars loud? is duals and glasspacks an option, or are there clearance issues? i'd really like to have that car if eveything falls in place. it looks awesome!!! thanks for the help.

Cully77 04-27-2009 05:55 PM

Well I don't know why I didn't post my price in the first place, but I paid 15,500 with 28K. Rick, If I recall correctly, your first owner was a dealer that only had it for 1000 miles, so that's not a big deal at all. Mine was GM Cert. as well.

rj 04-27-2009 06:37 PM

GM was just starting the 6yr/100,000k warranty on certified used cars when I got my '06 Monte. My local dealer wouldn't cover my car. I asked them about it.

I'm the first private owner of my car. My factory warranty just ran out on the 11th of this month. Right now my car has 14,505 miles on it.

I bought the extended when I bought the car. I was told it's comparable to the factory warranty.

I'll find out. :)

06MonteSS 04-28-2009 12:19 PM

I'll sell ya mine for $11,500... I'm the original owner... took delivery and been driving it since Nov. 2005.... 68k miles....

I want the new camaro!!!! and can't keep both toys - not enough garage space for 'em all... heh...

there's a link in my sig to pics of the car....

WOW... Now you know that deals can be had. 06MonteSS your car is beautiful and from what I've read you know a lot about the platform, so your car much be WELL taken car of.
Good luck with the sale.

ChibiBlackSheep 04-28-2009 01:13 PM

Rip your spoiler off before you sell it and give it to me :)

LnLSS06 04-28-2009 03:13 PM

Wow thats really strange. Bought mine new (32 miles on it when purchased) July of 06 and the dealer is offering me 15.2k trade thats why I am trying to get more on private sale. Guess it depends on what part of the country you are in also.

06MonteSS 04-29-2009 11:58 AM

it depends on the mileage on it too...

Some time ago my dealer sent me a flyer stating they would get me in a 2009 Malibu for less then I'm paying on my '06 Monte.

They said they'd give me a h--l of a deal on my Monte (after they drive it and look it over of course) then make me a great deal on an '09 Malibu.

Two free '09 Malibus wouldn't pry my '06 LTZ out of my hands.

RickAKATed10 04-30-2009 11:29 AM

For what the Malibu is, I think it's a damn nice looking, practical car. I wouldn't want one, but they're alright cars.

ChibiBlackSheep 04-30-2009 11:59 AM

They grew on me, I saw one with a spoiler and had to look 3x at a red light because I never saw that before lol

It completely changed the car.

RickAKATed10 04-30-2009 12:07 PM

You might say... "it wasn't really a spoiler after all..."

That was bad. lol

ChibiBlackSheep 04-30-2009 12:09 PM

...

umm anyway.. :P
