Painting your plastic engine cover
Well im going through and touching up the engine. Im going to have to re do some peices, cuz well im tired and slacked off a bit, but heres a little guide. My picture quality isnt the best, but im not back from football till 8PM so i hve limited daylight. Theyre pretty big too haha.
Supplies 1. Use the 900 grit, then 1300 grit, then 2000 ish grit sanding the parts. 2. Paint colors of choice. I HIGHLY reccomend using Duplicolor high heat paint, it sticks to plastic nicely and very well to metal. Night I brought it home http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p...4/100_2795.jpg After painting a cover. Use a few thin coats to make it look best, make sure it is very clean. I wouldnt paint the bottom of the cover. ( I added the intake too, ignore it though) http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p...4/100_3001.jpg Then I painted the braces and the bolts holding them one. You can use the same paint for this. I used red, still high heat paint. http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p...4/100_3002.jpg Last off, just got done tonight. Took off the main plastic cover around the hood hitch. Painted it black with the same high heat paint. While it was off i painted the whole hitch assembly, bolts and all. I didnt take out the release because of time restrictions, but it still turned out good. http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p...4/100_3005.jpg |
