This may vary slightly on your vehicle, this was done on an 08 impala but should be the same for the 06-07 Monte carlo

This went out it would click any time you would lock,unlock,start, turn off ect. becuase it cycles between fresh air and recirculation any time you did anything just about, or if you switch from recirculation to fresh air while the car was running

I got mine from RockAuto.com AcDelco for $24 I'm sure I could have gotten a cheaper one but figure if I can put ac Delco in I will

Tools needed,
1/4in ratchet
7/32 socket (some say 5mm but was too small and 6am was too big)
Small screw driver
Needle nose pliers

Step 1
Remove your glove box.
Easiest way I found it pull the pins on the hinges at the botom with a needle nose pliers then just opening the glove box,20151107_145625_zpsbdzs9jhu.jpg

Step 2
Remove the lower panel
There is 3 clips holding it on, pop those i used my small scre driver and put it out of the way, don't forget to undo the footwear light,

Step 3 undo the wire connector
Sorry don't have a pic but you can see it when your under there

Step 4 undo the 2 screw holding it in,
This is why I removed the lower panel, I found it easier getting my hand and the ratchet up there this way

Step 5 align the new actuator
I plugged in my new one with the connector loose, hit the unlock button on my key fob and it started to spin I unplugged the actuator when it was in the same position as my old one you want it at or just before, not past at all,

Step 6 put new actuator into its spot and put screws in
(See step 4 and reverse it)

Step 7 reinstall wire connector

Step 8 reinstall lower panel
(See step 2 and reverse it)

Step 9 reinstall glove box
(See step 1 and reverse it)

Step 10 pat yourself on the back on a job well done

 

These cars actually have 3 of those stupid things in it. I have already replaced 2 of them on Jenna's Impala. They are cheap plastic gears and strip over time.

The passenger side actuator for the blend door is the easiest of the 3, just pop down the glove box and you see it on the left.

The driver's side one is a real pain to reach, but not too terrible, probably the worst of the 3.

I actually use a 5.5mm socket on those bolts.

 

i have a clicking noise on the passenger side of my 06 monte carlo i hope this will take care of my noise.

 

I have replaced my fresh air/recirculation door actuators they work like a charm.
I have a question for you. Is it hard to take off the A-pillar so I can check on a bad ground for my remote start and keyless entry. I have read on here that when the car was made there is a huge TSB on the range of the keyless entry remotes.
Would like to know if you have any ideas

Can someone tell me how this is actually a "10 minute replacement?" I can't even get the wrench in there. Also, the screws didn't want to move on the one I did (pointlessly) replace....

 

Depends on which one. The driver's side one is a pain, the passenger side 2 are pretty easy through the glovebox

 

That's what everyone says. How do I get the wrench onto the bolts, then?

 

I use this with a 5.5mm (I think)

This way I don't have to fight with room for a ratchet

 

It is not a 5.5 mms it is 7/32 standard socket

 

5.5 mm is the same as 7/32 inch in metric conversion
