what fans would work best?

hey guys, got my monte back last week from my performance shop, my mechanic says i should get smaller fans with the same if not more power for the radiator. i had him fabricate mounts to fit the oversized rad from zzp. the stock fans are literally 1/4inch away from my headers, which i think is ok but id rather have more clearance and more fan power to cool the car down. any recommendations?

On the ZZP website under the reviews, one person says a pair of these

are what he uses, 14 in hayden electric fans. He also states he runs an electric water pump with an on off switch.

You say you want more fan power to cool the car down, but are you really having cooling issues living that far north and having the oversized radiator?

If you're concerned about the proximity of the fan motors to the headers, you could wrap the headers or build a small heat shield for the motors like some cars have stock:

I just think there are cheaper solutions for the problem than spending $300 on new fans + time wiring and mounting them- especially if you don't currently have an issue keeping the engine at temp.

i agree, if your not having cooling issues there is no need to worry. i have a stock rad and stock fans in turbo monte with no cooling issues at all.

Bumpin96 that pic you have with the little heat shields I actually have those didn't know what those were
