What did I break??

I was doing a plug change and was down to the last one on the infamous back three when my forearm snapped this plastic hose off this component. The part that it connects to has DELPHI 6011 2 on the top and goes in an inlet just to the right of the blue connector shown. Any one know what this peice is and its function? Any info is appreciated.
Edit** Forgot to mention my car specs - It's an 01 MC LS 3400 and this piece is beside the throttle body. |

It's kinda hard to see what's going on there, and I'm not that familiar with how all of the components are arranged in the LS engine bay, but it sounds like you just may have snapped a vacuum hose off of something near the EGR.
Most of the vacuum lines that run around the engine bay aren't too expensive...I broke the one that went to my PCV when I had an LS and it was about $8 to replace. -Riggs. |
I'm thinking that's what it is. It's a dry line, no fluid of any kind came out when it snapped. It's a preformed line, too (not flexible, hence the snap). And it routes under the firewall. I'm not sure where it heads exactly because I got ran into the house due to bad weather. I'll try to trace it in the morning and figure out where it goes. For a temporary fix I wrapped it tightly with a couple layers of electrical tape. I took a quick spin around the block and everything seemed to be fine for the moment.

If its too hard to replace the whole vacuum line you could probably find a vacuum line connector and use it where the line snapped. If all else fails, find yourself a T and just cap one end off. Thats what I did on my old F150 where the vent door vacuum line broke.

Hey, very nice. You know, I never thought about just coupling it together. I guess I didn't realize there would be something like that available. I'll be giving that a try. You'da man!

you could also just take a rubber vacum line hose that fits snug over both ends and hold it together that way, i do that often when people come in with those plastic lines that break.

Just take the piece you snapped off to a parts store and find the size of vacuum tubing that fits over it tightly and use that in the meantime. Just make sure it doesn't leak at all.
