Turbo set up.

So my friend told me if I put a turbo on my stock 00 monte carlo ss the engine would blow up with out valve springs and other internal upgrades. I have been picking around and the only thing I can find is that the transaxle will need upgraded. Would I need internal upgrades for the engine to? I'm planning on doing so any way So I can go a little higher up the rev range but I should be able to bolt on a turbo with out it blowing the engine right? My first plan is to get the transaxel set up for at least 300 whp or maybe a little more. then Ill get the turbo and throw that in as well. So what my deal here. What besides the tranny needs modification? thank you for you help.

tranny (triple edge performance builds a great one), work the heads, cam, springs and retainers, rest is included in a cartuning turbo kit (180 t stat, intercooler, ubend delete, o2 bung, tuner, downpipe, high flow cat, 42 injectors). Also get a nice cat back for more flow. If i missed anything someone will post what I missed. Buy a Power Log for under 400 hp or headers for anything over that. Mike says that a P Log will work for anything tho so your choice. keep the knock down and you should be good almost everything you need to keep you motor from going boom comes with the cartuning kit.

Edit: the cartuning kit comes with the borla, slp, or dynomax cat back your choice.

You don't buy headers with a turbo set up. The turbo replaces the crossover and downpipe and caps off your rear manifold. The only thing that is still stock is the front manifold which is why you should use a Powerlog :)

You can't safely adjust your shift points past 5900 RPMs without doing the valve springs, however you can throw a turbo on a stock engine. These blocks are really strong, they can hold up to power.

i have to agre with cjibiblacksheep(mike) the engines are strong stock to have a torbo on them down fall is the weakest link of the powertrain is the trans get the trans and go from there on what chibi said

It's advisable to at least get a bigger exhaust (mainly to ditch the u-bend), but other than that you can toss a turbo right on. As mentioned, the transmission is the weak spot. When I need one, I'm going to Triple Edge Performance. Or you could check ClubGP, a guy named Tim King or something like that builds them also.

The turbo should come with a new downpipe and delete the u-bend already
