Default Minor T-stat question

So it seems like the 180*T-stat is a good option, and ZZP sells it for only $10. Option 1 asks if you want the thermostat gasket, I selected it. While reading the reviews a customer complained that after only 5 months the gasket broke or was leaking, I've read similar problems on here. Is the ZZP gasket not worth the extra $3.50? Can't I just use the gasket that's already in my car?

I used the ZZP gasket and haven't had any issues, for what it's worth.

I would not re-use the old gasket, just incase it does not seal right on the second use.

If ZZP is using an OEM style gasket, I don't see why its a problem. Maybe that person just had a bad one. However, if they are using an aftermarket style gasket, then I recommend you just buy the T-stat, and then go buy yourself and OEM gasket!

AC Delco makes a 180° thermostat that you can purchase if you don't want to get it through ZZP...

Also keep in mind if you are JUST buying the thermostat from them, you are wasting money because they will mark up the shipping.. you could wind up paying almost $28 for that one thermostat.

Also, any other mods on the car? You won't really NEED the new thermostat yet on the stock engine. Your fan speeds will still only be on a 212° and sitting in traffic your car will still get warm.

If you are stock, but plan on getting other mods soon, just wait until you buy some of those mods from ZZP and THEN add the thermostat to that order.

Thanks for the info guys, that's all I needed to know.

And to ChibiBlackSheep, I only have a K&N CAI for now, I think I will take your advice and buy the T-stat from ZZP when I'm ordering a bundle of items, instead of buying it alone.

This.

Your local auto parts store should have 180* t-stats for your car.
Chances are they are the same exact one zzp carries, and much cheaper in the end.
